Robotic hull cleaning
Removal of fouling that is compatible with the service, in the water and after a preliminary assessment.
What it is
Robotic hull cleaning is a maintenance job carried out in the water, at the berth. An underwater drone, guided by an operator, works on the reachable surfaces of the hull while the boat stays moored.
The aim is to keep fouling under control through the season without arranging a haul-out every time the hull needs attention. A hull kept clean contributes to reducing drag.
Robotic cleaning is a maintenance service. It does not replace haul-out, technical inspection or yard work where those are needed.
When it works well
The service is at its best as routine maintenance:
- Biofilm or light weed, typical of a few weeks or a few months in the water.
- Planned maintenance during the season, before fouling becomes heavy.
- An accessible berth with enough working space around the hull.
- Antifouling in reasonable condition and compatible with in-water cleaning.
When it is not the right answer
We would rather say so before the job than after:
- Heavy or extensive hard growth: a different intervention may be needed.
- Antifouling that is degraded, lifting or not compatible with in-water cleaning.
- Insufficient access, marina rules that do not allow the work, or adverse sea and weather conditions.
- Work that requires the boat to be out of the water.

During the job we observe the reachable areas of the hull through the underwater camera. The check is visual and does not replace a technical, structural or surveyor's inspection.
The surfaces included in the job are defined in the quote, together with any operating limits identified during the assessment.
